Key Highlights
  • Environmental remediation of two diesel contaminated sites in a remote First Nation community.  Part of a larger Alternative Energy project aimed at reducing and eventually eliminating dependence on diesel fuel as a primary heating/power source in Manitoba’s northern isolated community.
  • Mobilization via ice road to the remote First Nations community.
  • Installation of a subsurface groundwater cut off wall and water treatment system at the lake side.
  • Completion of a 3 year chemical oxidant injection program.
  • Training and employment of local aboriginal workers as heavy equipment operators, in applying remediation process, systems and techniques,  labourers,  and traffic controllers.
  • Management of in-situ and ex-situ remediation by chemical injection of two areas with petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil and groundwater.
  • Decommission and remove/relocate all above and underground infrastructure associated with the School Tank farm site.
  • Excavation and stockpiling of hydrocarbon impacted soil at the School and Former Band and construction of an ex situ land treatment area (LTA).
