Sema:th (Sumas) First Nation and Milestone Environmental Contracting Inc. Form Wochmel Milestone Joint Venture

Sema:th (Sumas) First Nation has partnered with Milestone Environmental Contracting Inc. to create Wochmel Milestone Joint Venture. It is a partnership built on previous in-community success (Kilgard Brick Plant Remediation) that brings together Sema:th’s deep-rooted Indigenous knowledge and Milestone’s technical expertise to help our clients with a broad range of construction projects.

Wochmel Milestone Joint Venture recently completed the East Lonzo Creek Environmental Rehabilitation Project. To celebrate the completion and success of this habitat restoration project a Semá:th community tour was held on May 7th. The tour was well attended with approximately 40 participants including Semá:th Elders, community members, leaders, staff, and representatives from Milestone and the Ministry of Transportation and Transit.

The tour concluded with a luncheon and presentation at the Semá:th Community Hall, catered by members of the Semá:th community. Following the presentation Milestone was honoured to be presented with a plaque from the Semá:th in appreciation of the success of the project and meaningful partnership formed.

Milestone is grateful for the collaboration with Semá:th and we look forward to continued opportunities to work together in a spirit of mutual respect and partnership.
