While the wildfire near Sandy Lake continues, the safety of our employees, partners, and the community remains our highest priority.
Over the weekend, as conditions rapidly changed, our team, in close collaboration with our project partners and local authorities, took swift action, implementing the thorough training they had received. We are relieved to report that all Milestone personnel have been safely evacuated from the project site. We remain in contact with our team member to ensure their well-being. We are providing access to wellness support and trauma-informed resources to help them recover from this experience.
I would like to take this opportunity to commend our project team and on-the-ground partners sincerely. Their swift and courageous response, professionalism, and unwavering support for one another and those nearby are nothing short of exceptional. The care, leadership, commitment and courage they demonstrated under difficult circumstances truly reflect the values we hold at Milestone.
While we are relieved that our crews are safe, we are deeply concerned about the ongoing situation in Sandy Lake. We do not yet know the full extent of the impact on the community, our Indigenous partners, or the project area.
We are committed to standing alongside Sandy Lake during this time and are currently exploring ways to assist the community and its partners.
Our team is continuing to monitor the wildfire situation and will remain engaged in supporting recovery and next steps as information becomes available.
We extend our deepest respect and gratitude to our crews, project partners, and the emergency response teams for their resilience and leadership.
We are coordinating with local leaders to identify the most effective way to contribute to recovery. In the meantime, we encourage donations to the Red Cross 2025 Manitoba Wildfires Fund or verified Indigenous-led relief efforts.
